Booking your ceremony

Popular Pages

To book a wedding at the Victorian Marriage Registry, you need to complete and submit a:
1. Notice of Intended Marriage form or NOIM (PDF document, 63 KB, 4 pages).
2. Victorian Marriage Registry booking form (PDF document, 116 KB, 2 pages).

You will need Adobe® Acrobat® Reader to download PDF documents.

Things to keep in mind when submitting the NOIM and booking form:

  • You must submit the completed forms at least one calendar month plus one day, and no more than 18 months, before your preferred wedding date.
Note. The Registry recommends you submit your completed forms at least three months before your preferred wedding date, to increase the chance of being able to book that date.
  • You will need to provide supporting documentation for both the bride and groom, as outlined on the booking form.
  • You will need to include the appropriate booking fee. The fee for your wedding ceremony will vary depending on the day of the week, time of day and size of room you choose.
You will need to lodge your completed NOIM, booking form, booking fee and all supporting documents either in person or by mail.

Booking in person

If you choose to lodge the booking application in person, you will need to contact the Registry to make an appointment.

Booking by mail

If you choose to lodge the booking by mail, submit the required documentation to:
Victorian Marriage Registry
GPO Box 4332 Melbourne VIC 3001.

Remember to photocopy all supporting documents and have them certified by a sworn member of police.

Next steps

Once all relevant documentation is received and your ceremony date and time have been booked, the Registry will issue a letter confirming your ceremony booking details within five business days.

If your preferred dates and times are unavailable, the Registry will contact you to arrange another date and time for your wedding ceremony.

If you need to reschedule your wedding ceremony, you should contact the Victorian Marriage Registry as soon as possible. An administrative fee will be charged to reschedule the booking. This fee will vary depending on how far in advance you contact the Registry to reschedule your booking.
